Excessive Sweating? Use Sweat Guards

Do you think that you sweat more than you should be? It’s possible that you have a medical condition called hyperhidrosis. Excessive sweating in the underarm area is called Axillary Hyperhidrosis.

You do need to sweat. It cools your body, preventing it from overheating and it’s also a way for you to get rid of toxins in your body (think about those hangover days)! Sweating is obviously a good thing, but not when sweat too much. People with hyperhidrosis sweat even when they don’t need to. They commonly sweat from either their head, palms, feet, or underarms while the rest of their body sweats in a normal way. Back sweating often accompanies most forms of excessive sweating which can lead to embarrassing sweat marks.

Excessive sweating may seem harmless, but it can interfere with your everyday life. Little tasks such as opening the door or using a computer may suddenly become more difficult to manage. Even worse, you could be judged for it. It’s embarrassing to shake hands with moist palms or to perpetually have wet spots along the armpits.

Sweat-stained clothes are definitely a very real problem for those who sweat excessively. For this reason, investing in sweat guards makes a lot of sense. They are a natural way for you to block sweat and its resulting stain and odour from getting on your outer clothing. They are concealed by your outer clothing as they perform their purpose of protecting you from excessive sweat that can lead to many possible embarrassing situations.

A sweat guard is designed to allow your body to breathe and cool down. More than saving you from embarrassment, its other benefits include prolonging the life of your clothes and saving you time and money on dry-cleaning. Obviously, sweat can do a number on your clothes, so besides allowing you to build self-esteem and confidence, you also get to save money and your favourite outfits.

To help your sweat guards in helping you deal with the unpleasant effects of hyperhidrosis, you should try doing the following as well:

  • Use a high strength antiperspirant. You can get a prescription, but there are also over-the-counter varieties available.
  • Apply deodorant at night. Its active ingredient has to get down and clog your sweat duct to work, so it’s best to do it at night when sweat volume isn’t as high so that it doesn’t just wash off.
  • Take your deodorant and antiperspirant with you all the time. Reapply them at strategic moments (at noon, before meetings, etc.).
  • Choose clothes in cool fabrics such as linen. Avoid material that makes you feel hotter, such as silk.
  • Choose colours that won’t easily show sweat. Start investing in clothes with prints or patterns; they’re the best at disguising sweat stains.

Hyperhidrosis is an inconvenient condition to have, but there are ways to deal with it. By being proactive you can learn to implement some effective solutions.
